Festival Pt. 3
It's all over now... and I'm so exhausted!

After breakfast at Nevie's, a bunch of us headed out to the last day of the ACL festival. It rained on and off all day, so it was muddy and a little miserable.

First up was the Shins, who were really good and who played some new songs. Their keyboard player is so funny. It's no wonder he's dating a model. The Mod Rocker Guy was in the wings again. Anyway, Victor and I got CD's signed by them after the show, and they were very nice in person. While waiting in line for the signing, I was able to catch some of Paul Thorn's show. I talked to him a little bit too. I'd met him a couple of years ago in Fayetteville.

We watched some of Lucinda Williams' set after that. There were so many people watching her. She played several songs I knew, which was great since I only have one of her albums. Then we went to see the Polyphonic Spree. Mod Rocker Guy introduced them, but he didn't say who he was. Man, the Polyphonic Spree are crazy. 23 people dancing around in white robes, playing scores of instruments and harmonizing to everything. I watched some crazy punk guy with a mohawk sing along to every one of their "ahhh ahhhs."

Yo La Tengo was next on the list. They played my song ("Tears Are In Your Eyes"), which I was very happy about. They also did some dance moves, which were pretty comical. They ended with a really stupid spoken/sung thing about nuclear war. Victor and I got some food and walked around for a while, then headed back up to the front for REM.

They were really good. They played a lot of old songs, including "World Leader Pretend," which I was very excited to hear. They also played "Find the River," which made me a little teary-eyed. Such a great song. Michael Stipe took his shirt off, and he didn't look as skin-and-bones as I expected. Some fratastic idiots in front of me were waving their arms during "Everybody Hurts," which irritated me, but still I thought the show was great.

So that was it. I'm exhausted. I'm going to try to get some pictures posted tonight so that you guys can see the rest of the weekend!
