Tonight: Moving Out of My Apartment
Looks like the gods do not agree with the plans:

Looks like I won't need to take a shower later on tonight.

Exhausted
Our garage sale went well yesterday. Victor and I made around $300, though some of that was our friends buying things outside of the sale. Earlier last week, Victor sold some clothes for $150, which brings our total to around $450 (yay math!). We still have the following to sell:
If the gods smile upon us, and we get good prices for everything, we should double our money at least. We have buyers for most things, but I need someone who would like a older but still very usable computer package, and Victor needs someone who wants a really comfy chair and ottoman.
We also donated two carloads of stuff that didn't sell to Goodwill. The garage sale really wiped me out though. I am still pretty beat, and my legs ache from carrying all of the stuff out of my apartment. I live on the third floor with no elevator. I can't wait to take the rest of my stuff out tomorrow and Wednesday. Should be a really good time.
I am liberated from my job Wednesday at noon. Rejoice!

Tired. Still packing.
We're having our garage sale tomorrow, unless Austin decides to stage a downpour, like it did today. We've got a flash flood watch all weekend. Victor, myself, and another girl, S., are going in together for the sale. We have a lot of stuff. I'm getting rid of so much junk. It took five carloads to get it to Victor's.
I'm a little bit of a packrat. Yep. I like stuff. Victor, on the other hand, does not like stuff. So he helped me out a lot with deciding to get rid of things. I'm hoping to make at least $200 from the sale tomorrow. I already made $45 today when Dylan came by to buy a table and some CD shelves. We're hoping to use the money on our upcoming trip to Buenos Aires.
I have to be out of my apartment Wednesday night. I also have to drive to San Antonio to fetch my sister Wednesday night. I have a lot of sleep deprivation to look forward to before this is all over.

Another loss for England
Poor Victor. And Neil. Are they going to let David Beckham back into the country?
In other news, check out this week's Thursday Top Ten, which happens to be Top Ten Non-English Songs. Another loss for England.

But you wanted to keep his secret safe, so you threw the key away...
After seeing The Decemberists at The Parish on Tuesday night, I am even more convinced that you should go buy their entire backcatalogue. Right now.
Even if they didn't play my two favorite songs.
Even if they probably won't play my wedding, or anyone else's.

Just a little touch of star quality!
While traveling to and from India three times for work in the last two years, I racked up the frequent flyer miles. Also, Victor got 50,000 bonus miles for signing up to work for American Airlines. Therefore, we have decided to take a vacation by using our miles.
We're going to Buenos Aires.
We're going to stay here.
Can I tell you how excited I am?
Because the Argentine economy is, shall we say, not so happy these days, the US dollar goes a really long way down there. So we're going to be able to stay in this super nice hotel/spa for next to nothing. Since it's in the southern hemisphere, it's going to be winter while we're there. How nice will that be after disgusting Texas summer? I'm ready to do some serious relaxing, tourism, and Argentine beef eating. We've already bought one guide book and have a couple more on order. I'm compiling a list of must-see sights, and Victor's getting ready to learn the tango. I think.
Now, if I can only get through all of this packing and moving...

Packing sucks!
Know what sucks even more? Packing in the Texas summer. Yeah, I know, my apartment is air-conditioned. However, you always generate a lot of trash when packing, and I live on the third floor with no elevator. By the time I make it downstairs with the trash and back, I'm drenched in sweat, dodging wasps, and really grumpy. And if you're like me, packing also generates a lot of laundry, so I have to drag that downstairs and up again. The heat has been making me tired, too, so I don't get as much done. Needless to say, I've got a long way to go.
I had Friday off so that we could take a trip down to Houston to go to IKEA to get a new couch. We are getting rid of Victor's couch, so we would need another. We rented a pickup truck to take down there ($70) so that we would be able to bring the couch back. The trip takes about three hours each way. Unfortunately for us, the stupid Houston store is closed for renovating!! Until August!! I was so mad. We ended up just going shopping instead. We saw a couch and chair on Saturday at Eurway that was on sale, so I think we'll get that instead.
In other news, Interpol has a new album coming out in September. That's exciting! I'm hoping to see them in Dallas at the Curiosa festival. And we have tickets to see The Decemberists tomorrow at the Parish. I won them on the radio, but we were going to go anyway. Now I just don't have to buy tickets. I haven't been to a show in so long.

Coming, going, and language acquisition.
Sorry for the long drought… hopefully this post will quench your thirst.
I'm back in Texas. I left Idaho on Saturday morning. After several flights (one of them delayed by quite a long time, I finally touched down in Austin. Almost immediately, we went to see Saved! with a bunch of friends. I thought it was pretty funny, and it was less mean-spirited than I expected. Still, it did leave a little to be desired. Overall, though, a pleasant experience.
We watched and played soccer on Sunday, and I did some packing. I have to be out of my apartment on June 30. I've lived there two and a half years, and I have accumulated a lot of stuff in that time. Not to mention that I had a lot of stuff to begin with! Packing really makes me stressed out and nervous. My apartment is tiny, so trying to figure out where to put the boxes while I'm packing has become a chore. Victor is going to make some room at his house so that I can start taking stuff over there. I have to eventually get everything moved over there. The movers will only pick up from one location. They're also willing to pack that location, so Victor really doesn't have to do any packing.
So anyway, I've been trying to do a little packing in the evenings after work, between all of my pressing social engagements. Last night was girls' night/ladies' night, where my girl friends and I get together to eat, drink, and be merry. Tonight we're supposed to get together and practice Spanish at a local coffeehouse. If you speak English at all, you have to buy a round of drinks. Here's the thing, though… I've never taken a Spanish lesson in my life. I studied French in high school and college. Victor has spoken Spanish his entire life (it's his first language), some of the other people have lived in Mexico or Spain to immerse themselves in the language, and at the least, the rest of the people took it in high school. So I'm not really looking forward to it. I'm not even sure if I'll go. I totally understand that immersion in a language is the only way to become fluent, but you need to have a foundation in the language first. I think that until I learn the basics, it won't be much help to me. I'll just be bored and confused instead. I've spent enough time with Victor's family to know that I'm not going to learn the language by just listening to it. I do hope Victor goes, though, because he becomes rusty when he's away from home.

I used to let you wear all of my clothes.

Good news, but...
I suck, my work laptop sucks, everything sucks... however, last week's Thursday Top Ten, is finally up this week. Finally. Sorry about that, guys, it was due to various technical difficulties and my own laziness.
There will be another one tomorrow, never fear.
Note: This week's topic was Top Ten Unrequited Love Songs.

Sun Valley Pictures
Today, my coworker and I drove up to Sun Valley and Ketchum, Idaho. Here are some of the pictures:
We drove up Galena Summit, and this is one of the pictures from the drive. This is me with the mountains in the background:
This is another picture from the mountains. It was chilly up there, and there was plenty of snow.

Home sweet home.
Greetings from potato land. Nope, I haven't gone back to Texas yet; I'm still here. I haven't had too much to write about, since my days are mostly filled with work and TV. I have been out to see the Snake River canyon, which is just a couple hundred feet from my hotel anyway. I'll take some pictures soon, because it's beautiful. My coworker K and I are going to drive up to Sun Valley today. Even though most of the resort stuff will be closed, since ski season is over, you can apparently drive up into the mountains and get an amazing view.
In other news, Victor has been very busy getting our new apartment stuff sorted out. We faxed in our applications earlier this week, and Victor overnighted a check. Luckily, we got it just in time - apparently, all of the apartments in the building are gone now except for the super expensive ones. We were hoping for a two-bedroom, but the one we wanted was rented last weekend. Anyway, we're going to be living in the Post Wilson building in downtown Dallas. It's a nice one-bedroom on the ninth floor, so we'll have a decent view. Most of the apartment has hardwood floors, but there is a section of the living room with polished concrete. The bathroom has a huge jacuzzi tub! Yay, jacuzzi every night.
So it looks like we'll get the keys and sign the lease the weekend of July 3rd, and then paint all weekend. The movers will bring up our stuff later that same week. We're thinking mint green for the kitchen, which will look nice with the white cabinets. Did I mention the marble countertops that are in both the bathroom and the kitchen? We decided on some shade of red for the bathroom. We're still up in the air about the color for the bedroom and the living room. Oh, we have 13-foot ceilings, too, so we'll have to get a ladder so that we can paint and hang artwork. I'm pretty excited, because this will probably be the first nice apartment I've ever had (my apartments are always well-decorated, but the apartment itself is not too fancy). Unless you count one of the flats I had in Dublin... it was really nice but so, so small.
I guess all that TLC I've been watching lately will be put to good use with my new home makeover project.

Idaho love
So, I made it to Twin Falls. After a couple of days, I finally have my computer up and running at the hotel. I'm too tired to really type much of use. I'm watching the Red Sox on TV, and the one glass of wine I had at dinner is putting me to sleep. I'll write more tomorrow. For right now, I think I may pass out.
