Wildlife at work!
My workplace is in a pretty park in Dallas's Oaklawn/Turtle Creek area. The creek runs through the park below the theater buildings. The city is repainting the parking stripes in our parking lots, so today I had to move my car to another lot so that the workers could access the lot in front of our building. As I got into my car, I heard quacking.

I looked around, and there was a guy going into the theater, so I figured that it may be him making weird noises as he walked. But as I pulled out of my parking space, I saw two ducks! They were in the grass between the parking lot and the cliff that leads up to the walk/run/bike trail. Too cute! They were mallards, a drake and a hen (boy and girl).

When my coworker and I walked back from the upper lot, we got pretty close to them, and they didn't seem to want to move. I was a little worried that the hen might be nesting there. However, I watched from the window a few minutes later as the drake climbed/flew up the cliff towards the trail. Maybe they were just displaced from the creek as the workers were repainting stripes. I'll check for them again tomorrow, and I'll try to remember to take the camera just in case.
